Is the link followed by search engines . There should not be a "rel=nofollow" attribute in other links in that category .
How long will your link stay . If there is a recurring payment then you must see if the link is worth it .
How many links are there on that page . If more than 50 external links then a listing will not be very beneficial for you .

In addition if you are required to place a back link on your pages then you should be very careful . A link to a bad neighbour can even get your website
penalised . Try to submit to directories which do not require a reciprocal link and avoid submitting to those who require a back link . Reciprocal links
are anyway not very useful if you plan on a search engine friendly link . They are rated very low by search engines . They might get counted but rated
low . Additionally if the directory links to a bad neighbour and you are linking to the directory , then you have very high chances of getting black listed
if not completely penalised .

You can still submit to web directories that require a reciprocal link but keep in mind that is always a risk .

do not waste your time there .
